Sameiro Sanctuary, Marian sanctuary on Mount Sameiro, Braga, Portugal

The basilica stands at an elevation of 566 meters, featuring a neoclassical design with straight lines, round arches, and twin bell towers.

Construction began in 1863 under Father Martinho da Silva with a pedestal for a Virgin Mary statue, evolving into the current basilica by 1890.

Pilgrims gather in large numbers during June and August, participating in religious ceremonies and presenting offerings such as wedding dresses.

The sanctuary maintains different schedules between winter and summer, opening from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM in winter and until 7:00 PM in summer.

In 2004, Pope John Paul II awarded the Golden Rose to this sanctuary, recognizing its contributions to both the Church and society.
