Porto-Boavista railway station, Railway station in Cedofeita district, Portugal
Porto-Boavista railway station was a passenger facility located near the Rotunda da Boavista roundabout, designed with traditional Portuguese railway architecture. The building contained passenger areas and was connected to narrow-gauge track infrastructure.
The station opened on October 1, 1875, as the first railway facility built within Porto municipality. It initially served the Guimarães and Póvoa lines, marking the beginning of rail connection to the surrounding region.
The passenger building displays early Portuguese railway design with simple stone walls and tall windows typical of the period. For over a century, this location served as a daily meeting point for travelers from the city and surrounding villages.
The location is not accessible to visitors today as the station ceased operations in 2001 and remains in a deteriorated state. The building remains visible from nearby streets, though entry is not possible.
A fire in December 2020 severely damaged the passenger building and rendered it beyond restoration. This event accelerated plans to clear the site for new commercial development in the area.
