Praia do Homem Nu, Official nudist beach in Tavira, Portugal.
The beach extends along the Atlantic coast for several kilometers with fine sand and clear water near the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve. The terrain is open and flat with no permanent facilities like bars, showers, or lifeguards.
The beach received its official status as a naturist area in 2004 after years of informal use. This designation made it the only formally recognized clothing-optional beach in the region.
The beach draws visitors from northern Europe who form a welcoming and respectful community throughout the year. This international presence shapes the social character of the place and makes newcomers feel at home.
You can walk from Praia do Barril in about an hour or take a water taxi from Fuseta to reach the beach. Bring water and sun protection as there is little shade along the way and no supply stations.
At the western end a small lagoon forms like a natural pool creating a sense of seclusion. This body of water adds visual interest and a quiet feeling to the overall visit.
