Municipal Palace/Hall of Ponta Delgada, Medieval town hall in São Sebastião, Portugal.

The Municipal Palace of Ponta Delgada is a three-story building with a clear, symmetrical structure defined by two lateral staircases and a central balcony. A rectangular bell tower rises on the right side of the roof and completes the architectural composition.

The building was constructed in the 17th century and received its final architectural elements in 1724, as indicated by an inscription on the bell tower. This second construction phase shows the gradual development of the administrative center across several generations.

The building displays Portuguese royal symbols on its main facade, particularly a coat of arms positioned above the central window on the third floor. These decorations reflect the importance of this place as an administrative center for the region.

A visit is best during daytime hours, as the building serves active administrative functions and is primarily viewed from the outside. The symmetrical staircase construction provides clear visual access to the facade from the central square.

Two stone staircases merge at a central landing before reaching the main facade, creating a striking symmetrical design. This dual staircase arrangement was a practical way to direct large groups into the building in an orderly manner.
