Conceição Palace

Conceição Palace is a large building in the historic center of Ponta Delgada, positioned on elevated ground with traditional Portuguese architectural elements and clean lines throughout its design. The structure integrates various construction phases and displays both classical and baroque features in its facade and interior spaces.

Construction took place in the late 1800s, incorporating structures from the former Convent of the Immaculate Conception dating to the 1600s. This merging of two building periods created a complex that reflects both religious and administrative purposes.

The Regional Government of the Azores conducts administrative operations from this palace, making it a center of political and social activities.

The building sits on a hill in the city center and is easy to reach from the main plaza area. Keep in mind this functions as an active administrative center, so public access may have specific timeframes.
