Coelhos Beach

The beach features white sand stretching along a small bay, bordered by limestone cliffs and Mediterranean vegetation of the Arrábida Natural Park.

The beach earned its name Coelhos, meaning rabbits in Portuguese, due to the numerous wild rabbits that inhabited the coastal area in past centuries.

Local residents maintain this beach's natural state by practicing a strict no-facilities policy, preserving its original character within the protected Arrábida landscape.

Visitors need to bring water, food, and essential items as the beach lacks facilities, and access requires a 10-minute walk down a steep path.

The combination of clear waters, white sand, and surrounding Mediterranean flora creates a marine environment that supports diverse aquatic species.
