Coelhos Beach

Coelhos Beach is a sand beach in a small bay within Arrábida Natural Park with white sand and limestone cliffs. The sea is surrounded by Mediterranean plants that grow up the steep shores.

The name Coelhos comes from the Portuguese word for rabbits, as the area was populated by wild rabbits in earlier centuries. The bay remained remote for a long time before becoming part of today's nature protection system.

Local people have deliberately kept this place without facilities to maintain its natural state and protect the Arrábida landscape. This approach shapes how visitors experience the location today.

The beach has no facilities, so visitors should bring water, food, and necessary items. Access requires about a ten minute walk down a steep path.

The clear water and mix of white sand with Mediterranean plants create a rich marine environment. This combination still attracts snorkelers and nature watchers today.
