Chafariz da Praça da República

Chafariz da Praça da República is a granite fountain with multiple water basins and decorative jets arranged in a circular pattern on Braga's main square. The structure spans the central area of the plaza and creates a distinctive gathering point in the city center.

The fountain emerged as a central element of the public square and became an important gathering place in Braga's history. In 1995 it underwent major restoration to return it to its original appearance and preserve its role as a civic landmark.

The fountain sits at the center of the square and becomes a ritual focal point during Saint John festivities when the patron saint statue is displayed there. Local residents gather here to participate in celebrations that shape the city's religious life.

The fountain is located on Republic Square in central Braga and is easily reached on foot from the city center. The surrounding restaurants, shops, and cafes make it a natural stopping point when exploring downtown.
