Neamț Monastery

The monastery stands on a valley surrounded by forested hills, featuring traditional Romanian religious architecture with detailed stone carvings and painted frescoes inside the church.

Founded in 1407, the monastery experienced multiple reconstructions, with the current main church built during the reign of Stephen the Great in the late 15th century.

The monastery maintains an extensive library containing 18,000 volumes, representing centuries of theological studies, manuscript copying, and Romanian literary development.

The monastery complex includes two churches, two chapels, a bell tower with 11 bells, and a museum displaying religious artifacts and printing equipment.

The church houses a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, which according to records was painted in Israel in 665.
