Saint Bartholomew Church in Brașov, 13th-century church in Brașov, Romania
The Saint Bartholomew Church extends 55 meters in length and features walls adorned with romantic and gothic motifs, supported by columns on solid foundations.
Built in 1223 under German ruler Herman von Salza, the church witnessed the 1395 Alliance Treaty signing between Wallachia ruler Mircea cel Batran and Hungarian king Sigismund of Luxemburg.
The church transforms into a gathering place on the last Sunday before August 24th, when Saxon communities participate in traditional services and German music celebrations.
Located at Strada Lunga 247, the church contains a museum displaying 1500 Saxon objects contributed by emigrants since 2003.
The church structure incorporates a combination of broken arch windows, pointed arch vaults, and gothic decorations crafted from grit stone throughout its architecture.
