Castra Angustia, Roman military fort in Brețcu, Romania.
The fort measures 141 by 179 meters, encompassing 2.5 hectares of land with twelve wooden towers and earthen fortification walls.
Built in the 2nd century AD, Castra Angustia controlled the Oituz Pass and housed the Cohors I Bracaraugustanorum military unit until the 3rd century.
Archaeological excavations since 1877 have uncovered Roman coins, military stamps on bricks, and a bronze military diploma from 92 AD.
The archaeological site stands 200 kilometers from the former Imperial Road and requires experienced guidance to locate due to limited signage.
The fort contains remains of two construction phases: an earlier earth-and-wood structure measuring 135 by 172 meters and a later stone fortification.
