Cascada Putnei

Cascada Putnei is a waterfall system in Vrancea County featuring multiple cascades and pools carved into the forested landscape. The main drop forms the centerpiece, while several smaller falls collect water in crystalline basins downstream.

The site was recognized as a Natural Monument by Romanian authorities in 1973, marking the beginning of organized protection measures. This designation enabled visitor access and the development of basic infrastructure in the area.

The waterfall represents an essential element of Vrancea Natural Park, contributing to environmental education and natural resource preservation in Romania.

The area is most easily accessed from the main forest entrance, with marked trails leading to the different waterfall viewpoints. The walk through the damp terrain is typically cool and shaded, but requires suitable footwear due to wet and slippery surfaces.

Below the main attraction lies an old waterfall channel that was abandoned due to geological shifts in the terrain. This former watercourse shows how natural processes have reshaped the landscape over time.
