Baron Samuel von Brukenthal established this summer retreat in 1757 during his tenure as the governor of Transylvania under the Habsburg Empire.
The residence maintains collections of art and artifacts gathered by Baron Brukenthal, representing the Saxon cultural heritage of Transylvania.
The palace complex includes a restaurant within its baroque structure and provides spaces for weddings and celebrations in its garden and orangery.
This residence contains the only surviving baroque gardens of their type in Romania, featuring numerous exotic plant species from the 18th century.
