Buridava, Dacian fortress in Ocnele Mari, Romania
Located at an altitude of 350 meters, the archaeological site contains defensive walls constructed with massive stone blocks near the Olt River.
The settlement functioned as the capital of the Buri tribe before 101 CE, when it was destroyed prior to the establishment of Roman control.
Archaeological excavations uncovered underground chambers containing pottery, tools, ornaments, and a bronze Dacian table in the Sacred Valley area.
Visitors can contact Bogdan Găitănaru at the local tourist information center to arrange guided tours of the archaeological site.
A discovered vessel fragment bears the inscription 'THIAMARCOS EPOIEI', indicating the name of a local ruler who governed this salt trade center.
