The original building was constructed in 1834 and underwent major reconstruction during 1933-1934. Architect Gheorghe Simotta redesigned it during this renovation using the Oltenian-Muntenian architectural style.
The interior walls feature neo-Byzantine frescoes showing Orthodox religious scenes and imagery. These paintings shape how the space feels when you walk through it and reflect traditional church art practices.
