Dimitrie Sturdza House

Dimitrie Sturdza House is a three-story residence in central Bucharest featuring classical exterior elements and a carefully organized interior layout. A central hall connects symmetrically arranged rooms with preserved white stoves and original decorative details throughout.

The structure was built in 1883 for a historian and prime minister from whom it takes its name. A major renovation in 2003 restored the building to its current condition.

The building combines classical exterior style with Renaissance details inside that visitors can observe in the decorative ceilings and ornate doors. These interior features reveal how a prominent household chose to blend different design traditions together.

The building stands on Arthur Verona Street in the downtown area and now operates as a bookstore that has gained international attention. Visitors can explore both the architecture and the merchandise when they enter the shop.

The building now operates as an internationally recognized bookstore, making it a rare example of a space that has kept its historical appearance while remaining actively used. This function allows visitors to experience the rooms naturally while browsing.
