Castelul din Zau de Câmpie

The castle structure follows a calendar design with 365 iron fittings, 52 rooms, 12 halls, 7 terraces, and 4 towers in an L-shaped configuration.

István Ugron, the Austro-Hungarian ambassador to Russia, commissioned the construction of this castle between 1911 and 1914 while serving in Tbilisi.

The castle underwent multiple transformations, serving as a tuberculosis sanatorium, school, grain storage facility, and orphanage for 70 girls until 2012.

Visitors can reach the castle through routes from Sibiu via Medias-Tarnaveni-Iernut-Ludus or from Bucharest via Brasov-Sighisoara-Ungheni-Iernut-Ludus.

The castle design incorporates calendar elements with specific architectural features representing days, weeks, months, and seasons of the year.
