Union National College in Focșani

The National College building stands at 15 Cezar Bolliac Street, featuring an amphitheater, multiple laboratories, and specialized classrooms for physics and chemistry studies.

Founded in 1865 under Alexandru Ioan Cuza's directive, the school changed its name from Cuza to Unirea in 1880 to reflect Focșani's connection to the Principalities' union.

The college library, established in 1874 with 45 books, grew to hold 33,000 volumes, including 6,300 rare publications by the beginning of the 21st century.

The educational facility maintains modern laboratories and classrooms while preserving its historical architecture, serving as both a school and protected monument.

A 1921 memorial plaque by sculptor Oscar Späthe commemorates the students from Putna County who lost their lives during World War I.
