Pădurea Bogății

Pădurea Bogății is a nature reserve that spreads across the central Perșani Mountains and features deciduous forests mixed with varied rock formations. The landscape shifts between denser woodland sections and more open slopes, creating different hiking experiences throughout the area.

The area was granted protected status in 2000 as part of Romania's commitment to nature conservation. This designation helped secure the forest ecosystem and its wildlife populations for the long term.

The name "Bogății" means "wealth" and refers to the forest abundance that has shaped local identity for generations. People in the surrounding villages still view this woodland as central to their way of life and heritage.

Highway DN13 connecting Brașov to Sighișoara provides year-round vehicle access to the reserve and makes planning visits straightforward. Sturdy footwear and layered clothing are essential since conditions change with the seasons.

The reserve is home to lynx, wolves, bears, and deer living in their natural habitats and serving as a vital migration corridor for these species. These large predators have become rare across the region, making this place especially important for their survival.
