Sükösd-Bethlen Castle, Renaissance castle in Racoș, Romania.

Sükösd-Bethlen Castle is a Renaissance residence in Racoș with a rectangular core and four circular corner towers that give it a fortified appearance. The main entrance is marked by a prominent tower on the southern facade, making it the primary access point to the building.

Construction of the castle began in the 1590s under Sükösd István, a member of a Szekler family with ties to the region. The structure was significantly modified and expanded in the late 1600s when it passed to Count Bethlen Samuel and his family.

The castle displays heraldry of the Bethlen family throughout its spaces, reflecting the noble lineages that made this place their home. These symbols show how powerful the family was and how central they remained to regional affairs.

Visitors can explore the grounds on their own schedule, with the exterior layout and towers best viewed from the outside to understand the building's full shape. Wearing sturdy shoes is advisable since the terrain around the site can be uneven and mixed with grass and older pathways.

One architectural oddity that catches the eye is a large kitchen hood built at the top of one corner tower, something rarely seen in castles of this period. This detail hints at the refined domestic facilities that existed here, suggesting the castle served more as a comfortable residence than a purely military stronghold.
