The initial monastery at this location dates back to 1327, established by King Charles Robert of Anjou and managed by Franciscan monks from Bosnia.
The church serves as a pilgrimage destination with a revered icon of the Mother of God, donated by Gheorghe Vriconosa in 1668.
The monastery complex includes three additional buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, operating within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Timișoara.
The Maria Radna Museum exhibits 2,500 paintings depicting miracles reported by visitors, with the collection starting from 1850.
