TPP Nikola Tesla

TPP Nikola Tesla is a large power generation complex located on the Sava River bank near Obrenovac with multiple generation units. The facility comprises 14 operational blocks of varying capacity that together support Serbia's electricity network.

The first generation unit at this site began operating in 1970, with the complex later formalized as an official power plant facility in 1991. The station expanded through the addition of more units over several decades.

The facility is named after Serbian-American inventor Nikola Tesla, reflecting the region's respect for his scientific contributions.

The facility is supplied by a dedicated railway system that carries coal from nearby Kolubara mining operations. Visitors should expect long access routes and limited public areas since this is an active industrial site.

The complex relies on coal delivered through a specialized 100-kilometer railway network built solely to connect the Kolubara mines with the power station. This integrated transport system demonstrates how mining and electricity generation are directly linked in this region.
