Located 322 kilometers southeast of Kazan, Leninogorsk rises at an elevation of 251 meters in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Originally established in 1795 as a settlement, Leninogorsk received its official town status in 1955 during the Soviet administrative reorganization.

The population of Leninogorsk represents a mix of Russian and Tatar communities, with both languages commonly used throughout the town.

The town maintains direct transportation connections to major cities in Tatarstan through a network of regional roads and regular bus services.

Leninogorsk functions as a center for oil extraction operations at the Romashkino Field, one of the largest petroleum reserves in Russia.
