Arnau Church

The brick structure stands along the Pregolya River, featuring tall windows and architectural elements characteristic of northern European religious buildings from the 1300s.

The church originated as a Catholic sanctuary in 1301, later becoming Lutheran during the Reformation period when the region was part of East Prussia.

The interior walls once displayed over 200 medieval frescoes that represented religious scenes and demonstrated the artistic traditions of the 14th century.

Located 8 kilometers east of Kaliningrad at Kaliningradskoye shosse 10, the church operates under the Russian Orthodox Church since 2010.

The churchyard contains the burial site of Theodor von Schön, while only 2-3 percent of the original medieval frescoes remain visible today.
