Ponarth Church, Gothic Revival church in Kaliningrad, Russia.
Ponarth Church is a brick Gothic Revival building on Kievskaya Street featuring pointed arches and supporting buttresses characteristic of the 1890s style. The interior space blends the original structure with religious furnishings added during later periods.
The church was built in 1897 as a Protestant place of worship and became an independent parish in 1905. After World War II it served other purposes before returning to religious use in 1992.
The building originally served the Protestant community and continues to shape the local street. Today it hosts worship for people of various backgrounds who experience the interior spaces anew.
The church is located at the corner of Kievskaya and Krovelnaya Streets in the city center and is easy to reach on foot. Access is generally open, but it is wise to check ahead since the building remains an active place of worship.
Between 1947 and 1992 the building was repurposed for completely different uses, serving as a storage facility and later as a sports hall for school children. This period of alternative use is now largely forgotten in the place's story.
