Museum of Moscow

The Museum of Moscow is located in a former food warehouse on Zubovsky Boulevard and displays extensive collections about how the Russian capital developed over time. The exhibits show objects, photographs, documents, and models from different periods of the city's history.

The museum was founded in 1896, beginning with a collection created for the All-Russia Exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod. Over the decades, it moved several times before finally settling in its current building.

The collections reveal how Moscow transformed from a medieval settlement into a modern capital city. Visitors can observe how the city's appearance, buildings, and daily life changed across different eras.

The museum is within walking distance of several metro stations and opens Tuesday through Sunday for visitors. Guided tours in multiple languages are available for both individuals and groups, making it easy to arrange a visit.

Throughout its history, the institution has occupied five different buildings, including the Sukharev Tower and the Krestovsky water towers. This journey across the city itself reflects Moscow's story of growth and change.
