Museum of Moscow, History museum in central Moscow, Russia
The Museum of Moscow occupies a former food warehouse building on Zubovsky Boulevard, containing extensive collections about the development of the Russian capital.
Founded in 1896 through initiatives of Russian scientists, the institution began with exhibits from the Moscow pavilion at the All-Russia Exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod.
The museum maintains an archive of photographs, maps, and documents that detail Moscow's transformation from its early days through the Soviet period to modern times.
Located near metro stations, the museum opens Tuesday through Sunday with scheduled guided tours available in multiple languages for both individual visitors and groups.
The museum has occupied five different locations throughout its history, including the Krestovsky water towers and the Sukharev Tower before settling at its current site.
