Zaoksky District

Zaoksky District is an administrative area in northern Tula Oblast comprising multiple rural settlements and one urban center. The area encompasses a substantial territory with scattered communities connected by local infrastructure.

The district was established in 1924 as an administrative unit and initially belonged to Moscow Oblast. A major administrative shift in 1937 transferred it to Tula Oblast jurisdiction where it remains today.

The Zaoksky Adventist University shapes the educational landscape and draws students from many countries to study here. The institution serves as a cultural anchor for the local community with its focus on religious and practical education.

The area is best explored by car since settlements are spread throughout the territory. Visit during the warmer months when rural roads are in better condition for travel.

The region is home to one of the first Protestant universities established in post-communist Russia. This educational institution has shaped the character of the area in unexpected ways.
