Plekhanov Russian Economic University, Public university in Moscow, Russia
Plekhanov Russian Economic University provides degree programs in economics, business administration and financial management across a campus with eight buildings in southern Moscow. Around fourteen thousand students are distributed among the faculties, which are complemented by several institutes and research centers.
Aleksey Vishnyakov founded the institution in nineteen hundred and seven under the name Moscow Commercial Institute to train specialists in trade and finance. Fifty years later, the establishment received the Order of the Red Banner of Labour in recognition of its role in Soviet economic education.
The campus in southern Moscow bears the name of Marxist theorist Georgy Plekhanov, whose economic writings shaped the institution's orientation. Students use their own television studio and university newspaper, both broadcasting and printing in Russian and English.
The institution offers forty-nine undergraduate and fifty-seven postgraduate programs, some of which are taught in English. International applicants can find information on admission and language requirements at the central administration building on campus.
This institution was the first in Russia to focus exclusively on finance and economic subjects. Since its opening, more than one hundred and eighty thousand graduates have earned their degrees here and now work in different areas of the economy.
