The Smolny Cathedral features five domes, blue and white exterior walls, and reaches a height of 94 meters in baroque architectural style.
Under the direction of architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, construction began in 1748 and continued for 87 years until completion in 1835.
The cathedral functions as both a religious center and concert venue, hosting regular classical music performances by the Chamber Choir since 1990.
Visitors can access the cathedral Monday through Saturday from 8:00 to 20:00 and Sunday from 7:00 to 20:00, with guided tours available daily in summer.
The cathedral contains an observation deck at 50 meters high, offering the highest viewing point across Saint Petersburg from its bell tower.
