Metrogorodok District, Administrative district in Eastern Moscow, Russia.
Metrogorodok is an administrative district in eastern Moscow that covers roughly 27 square kilometers. The majority of the area is occupied by Losiny Ostrov National Park, with residential neighborhoods and industrial facilities filling the remaining space.
The name comes from the 1930s when a settlement was built for workers constructing the first Moscow metro lines. This worker colony shaped the district's identity from its beginning.
The district administration maintains strong connections with local residents through community centers and educational programs that promote Moscow's administrative heritage.
The area is best explored on foot or by public transport, with many routes passing through the national park. The warmer months offer the best visiting conditions when outdoor areas and green spaces are most accessible.
The district shows a strong contrast between nature and industry, with the expansive green area of the park on one side and the Kaloshino industrial zone with power station number 23 on the other. This contrast makes it an unusual example of how diverse eastern Moscow can be.
