The Mozhaysky Air Force Academy is a military college in the Petrovsky District of Saint Petersburg, training officers for the Russian aerospace forces. The campus includes lecture halls, technical laboratories, and military training facilities spread across the northern edge of the city.
The institution was founded in 1712 as a nautical school under Tsar Peter I. It received its status as an air force academy in 1955 and has since contributed to military training in aerospace technology.
The institution bears the name of Russian pioneer Alexander Mozhaysky, who designed early aircraft in the 19th century. Students wear the uniform of the aerospace forces during their studies and take part in military ceremonies inside the neoclassical main building.
The grounds lie in northern Saint Petersburg and are restricted as a military site. Visitors can view the main building from the street but must keep a safe distance from the perimeter.
The academy operates its own research facilities for satellite navigation and radar surveillance. Students work on projects that cover both aircraft control and orbital missions.
