Sparrow Hills Sanctuary

Sparrow Hills is a protected natural sanctuary featuring densely forested hills, natural springs, and deep ravines along the Moskva River in southwestern Moscow. The area encompasses extensive grounds with elevated vantage points that overlook the city.

The site originated as a medieval village before the Grand Duke of Moscow transformed it into a grand estate in the mid-15th century. This transformation marked the beginning of the location's long association with power and royal influence.

The Trinity Church is the last surviving building from the original Vorobyovo village and continues to serve as an active place of worship today. It represents how local communities have valued this location as spiritually important across generations.

Access to the observation platform is available through Vorobyovy Gory metro station, situated on the lower level of the Luzhniki Metro Bridge. From there, visitors can easily reach the grounds and explore the various trails throughout the site.

This location is the highest natural elevation in Moscow and provides expansive views of central districts from its peaks. Its geographical prominence has made it a long-favored spot for taking in the city landscape.
