Dolgochevskaya Tower

The Dolgochevskaya Tower is a stone fortification within the Smolensk Kremlin, part of a larger defensive system of interconnected towers and walls. The structure displays typical military construction techniques of the period, with heavy masonry and elevated positions for lookouts.

The tower was constructed between 1595 and 1602 as part of the Kremlin building program, overseen by architects appointed by Tsar Feodor I. This project responded to the need for strengthened city defenses against external threats.
