The Goncharov Memorial Gazebo is an open structure with eight Doric columns supporting a dome, housing a central four-sided obelisk with memorial plaques and relief portraits at its core. The building sits in Vinnov Grove Park and provides visitors with a quiet place to pause and reflect.

The memorial was built in 1912 to mark Goncharov's hundredth birthday, on the initiative of Ekaterina Percy-French and designed by architect Alexei Shode. This construction represented an important recognition of the writer in his native city.

The memorial honors Ivan Goncharov, a major Russian writer who grew up in Ulyanovsk and shaped the nation's literary tradition through his works. People visit to connect with the legacy of this important author and reflect on his influence.

The gazebo is freely accessible during daylight hours and sits within a park offering walking paths to explore the surroundings. Visitors can pair their time here with a trip to the nearby Goncharov House Museum, located a short distance away.

The memorial was relocated in 1960 due to erosion of the Volga riverbank, a rare example of moving a historic monument to save it. During its renovation for the bicentennial in 2008, it received a complete rebuild using white marble.
