Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum, Art museum in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia
The Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum houses over 12,000 pieces across three historic buildings in the city center, displaying Russian and international artworks.
Founded in 1896 by professors N. A. Koshelev and A. A. Karelin, this institution became one of the first public museums in provincial Russia.
The museum collection includes masterworks of Russian avant-garde artists Mikhail Larionov and Kazimir Malevich, alongside European and Eastern art collections.
The museum operates from Monday to Sunday with extended hours on Thursdays until 20:00, offering guided tours and special rates for students.
The museum buildings include the former Military Governor's House, built in 1841, and the Sirotkin Merchant's House, constructed between 1913 and 1916.
