Oktyabrsky bridge, Road bridge across Yenisei River in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.
Oktyabrsky Bridge is a road bridge over the Yenisei River in Krasnoyarsk, connecting the city's left and right banks across one of the widest rivers in Siberia. It carries multiple lanes of traffic in both directions and runs roughly parallel to the older Kommunalny Bridge downstream.
Construction began in the late 1970s and was completed in the early 1980s to meet the growing transport needs of a rapidly expanding industrial city. The original plans included tram lines on the bridge, but these were never built.
The bridge connects two distinct city districts and serves as an everyday crossing for residents moving between residential and business areas. It shapes the city's landscape and is used daily by many people on foot or by car.
The bridge is open to both vehicles and pedestrians, and the walkway offers open views of the river in both directions. Traffic can be heavy during morning and evening rush hours, so crossing on foot is easiest outside those times.
The bridge was designed with a dedicated lane for trams that was never actually used for that purpose. That space was later converted to carry additional car traffic instead.
