Bridge 777, Road-rail bridge in Krasnoyarsk, Russia
Bridge 777 is a combined road and railway viaduct spanning the Yenisei River and forms one of the region's key connections. The structure stretches roughly one kilometer and carries both railway tracks and vehicle lanes simultaneously, making it a multipurpose transport crossing.
Construction began in 1895 under engineer Evgeny Karlovich Knorre and replaced an earlier structure at the site. The new work later gained international recognition and marked a turning point in the region's development and transport connections.
The bridge holds a central place in Krasnoyarsk's identity, linking not just two riverbanks but two major transport systems in a single structure. Locals use it daily, and the image of the span across the Yenisei has long been part of the city's visual identity.
The structure connects both sides of the Yenisei and is reachable on foot or by vehicle, offering a direct crossing over the river. Visitors should note that it functions as an active transport route, so pedestrian areas are clearly separated from traffic.
The structure employed advanced construction techniques during building, including soil freezing and compressed air working methods that were highly innovative for the time. These methods made it possible to work under extremely difficult conditions in frozen ground.
