Friendship Park, Elista

Friendship Park is a large green space in central Elista featuring extensive walking paths, seating areas, and planted landscaping distributed throughout the grounds. The pathways connect different sections and allow visitors to explore various parts of the park at their own pace.

The park was established in 1937 as the city's first recreational space created for residents. It has remained a central part of Elista's urban development since then.

The park displays monuments honoring Kalmyk heritage, including the Jangarchi Eelyan Ovla statue and traditional prayer flags positioned along the walkways. These features create a space where visitors naturally encounter local traditions while strolling through the grounds.

The park is accessible daily through several entry points and connects to neighboring areas on the opposite side. Visitors find rest areas and pathways throughout that link different parts of the grounds together.

A natural spring called Bortha lies within the park where residents have collected water across multiple generations. This long-standing practice shows how important this place remains for the local community.
