Church of Dimitry Prilutsky on Navolok

The Church of Dimitry Prilutsky on Navolok is an Eastern Orthodox church with five distinctive domes and a bell tower on its northwest side. The building displays traditional stone architecture that has become part of Vologda's skyline.

The site began as a wooden chapel in the late 1300s before being converted to stone construction starting in 1651. This transformation marked a shift toward permanent religious architecture in the city.

The interior displays wall paintings from the early 1700s showing biblical scenes and religious stories in the style common to the Volga region. Visitors can see how these decorations shaped the spiritual experience for worshippers over centuries.

The church sits near the waterfront and is easily reached on foot from the city center. Visitors should plan their visit around service times and dress appropriately when entering the building.

The sanctuary houses two venerated icons of the Mother of God called the Seven-city and Seven-shot, which attract pilgrims seeking their spiritual blessings. These icons have drawn believers to this location for generations due to their revered status.
