Church of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple

The Church of the Presentation of Jesus is a wooden structure in the Novaya Derevnya district featuring a single dome, a refectory, and a bell tower. The building stands adjacent to the Novo-Derevenskoye cemetery and continues to serve the local community.

Built in 1875, the church was relocated to Novaya Derevnya in 1922 to protect it from canal construction. This move proved critical to preserving the structure for future generations.

Archpriest Alexander Men established this as a center of Orthodox theological thought during his service from the 1970s onward. The space drew believers seeking deeper religious understanding and discussion.

Regular services take place throughout the year at this active parish. The church also houses an icon painting workshop and Sunday school alongside an extensive religious library available to visitors.

During the 1930s, local residents raised funds to prevent authorities from dismantling the church building for firewood. This grassroots effort ensured the structure survived a precarious period.
