Katerlezsky Saint George Monastery, Orthodox monastery on Saint George Mountain in Voikove, Ukraine.
The Katerlezsky Saint George Monastery is an Orthodox monastery in Voikove, set on elevated ground and made up of several stone buildings. The compound includes a church, a bell tower, and other monastic structures arranged within an enclosed area.
The monastery was founded in 1857 at the initiative of Archbishop Innocent of Kherson and Taurida. It was closed during the Soviet period and reopened for worship in 1996.
The monastery is an active place of Orthodox worship where daily services take place and pilgrims from the region come regularly. Visitors can observe the simple interiors of the church spaces, where icons and candles shape the mood of prayer.
The monastery is open to visitors every day and also offers accommodation for those coming as pilgrims. A large Orthodox cross at the entrance marks the start of the grounds and helps orient first-time visitors.
Local stories from the 18th century describe a shepherd who repeatedly saw a mysterious rider on a white horse at this site. This vision is said to be the reason people came to regard the place as spiritually significant long before the monastery was built.
