Lagerny Cape

Lagerny Cape is a rocky headland that juts into the Black Sea southeast of Feodosiya, creating a distinctive point along the coastline. The landform extends into the water and shapes the profile of this historic seaside settlement.

The cape sits near Theodosia, an ancient Greek colony founded in the 6th century BCE that served as a major grain-trading port with the Greek mainland. The area later became important under different rulers as a center of commerce and maritime activity.

The cape lies within Feodosiya's territory, where Armenian churches, Ottoman mosques, and maritime galleries reflect centuries of multicultural influences.

The area is best explored on foot, with paths running along the coastline that offer views across the bay. Weather and sea conditions can affect access, so checking conditions beforehand is sensible.

The seabed around the cape holds remains of vessels from different periods, including ancient Greek and medieval Genoese ships. These sunken wrecks tell the story of centuries of seafaring and trade in this region.
