Ain Qannas, Archaeological site in Al-Ahsa Oasis, Saudi Arabia.

Ain Qannas is an archaeological site within the Al-Ahsa Oasis that spans two square kilometers and contains residential layers from several ancient civilizations. The excavations have revealed 14 distinct settlement levels, showing how people lived at this location across long periods of time.

The site was originally settled by the Ubaid civilization, with traces reaching back to the ancient Stone Age. Later, Bronze Age cultures also inhabited the region, maintaining connections to distant trade networks.

The site shows how early people adapted to desert life, with remains of water systems and farming methods that developed over many centuries. These traces reveal how settlers managed to survive and thrive in such a harsh environment.

The site is located about 15 kilometers from Al-Mubarraz and requires private transportation to reach. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and prepare for desert heat, especially if visiting in the morning or late afternoon.

Archaeologists discovered pottery fragments with red edges that point to trade contacts with the ancient Dilmun civilization. These finds show that people at this location were part of trading networks that extended across vast distances.
