Östra Göinge Municipality

Östra Göinge is an administrative municipality in southern Sweden's Skåne County, extending across eight settlement centers. The territory is shaped by forests and farmland, with the town of Broby serving as its administrative hub.

The current municipality was formed in 1974 through a merger of four smaller communities during Sweden's major administrative reform. This reorganization fundamentally changed how the region was governed.

The region celebrates local festivals and customs that reflect its history as a boundary area shaped by both Danish and Swedish influences. These traditions remain visible in how residents mark important occasions today.

The area is easily accessible by car and connected through several towns with regular bus services between them. Broby in the center offers the most facilities and serves as the best base for visitors.

Black diabase stone from local quarries was used globally for major buildings, including the Empire State Building. This regional material continues to be part of international landmarks.
