Astrid Lindgren's World, Theme park in Vimmerby, Sweden

Astrid Lindgren's World is a theme park in Vimmerby covering 180,000 square metres, with settings built from the illustrations in Lindgren's books. The first structures were miniature houses at 1:3 scale, beginning with Katthult in 1981; full-scale environments followed from 1990, including Troublemaker Street and the Brothers Lionheart area with its two valleys seating about 800 each.

The park opened in 1981 as a collection of storybook settings in Vimmerby. It has since become Sweden's primary destination dedicated to bringing Lindgren's literary creations to life for visitors.

The park celebrates Swedish author Astrid Lindgren's influence on children's literature and storytelling. Costumed performers bring her characters to life, showing visitors how these stories have shaped childhoods across generations.

Plan for at least a full day to explore the main attractions since the park spreads across several hectares. Wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared for crowds during peak season, as the outdoor layout requires significant time to navigate.

The park's own railway station on the Stångådalsbanan line is served by Krösatågen trains between Linköping and Hultsfred while the park is open. The site covers 180,000 square metres, and the Bröderna Lejonhjärta area opened in June 2016 cost over 60 million kronor, the largest single investment in one environment in the park's history.
