Aktse, Mountain hut in Jokkmokk Municipality, Sweden
Aktse is a mountain hut near Lake Laitaure that serves as a stopping point along the Kungsleden hiking trail in northern Sweden's highlands. The shelter sits strategically between water routes and walking paths, connecting various routes through the surrounding terrain.
The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation took over the hut in 1945 and made it a key stop for long-distance walkers. Since then it has become an established part of the hiking infrastructure in this region.
The hut sits in territory historically used by Sami reindeer herders, and the surrounding landscape shows the traditional summer pastures of this region. Visitors can directly experience how nature and human use have been connected here for generations.
In summer the hut can be reached by water taxi across the lake or you can row yourself and walk afterward. The best time to visit is June through September when the trails are snow-free and the weather is more stable.
From here visitors have direct access to the Skierfe cliff face, from which you can overlook the delta of the Rapa River and the lake. This viewpoint is a popular photo spot and shows a landscape view typical of the region.
