Stampen

Stampen is a jazz club in Stockholm's Old Town with an interior filled with antique items, old musical instruments, and objects hanging from the ceiling throughout the space. The decor creates a layered, cluttered feeling that makes the venue feel like a living museum.

The building began as part of a French Reformed Church until 1880, when it became a pawnshop serving the neighborhood. It transformed into a jazz venue in 1968 and has focused on live music since then.

Live music fills the space every evening with blues, swing, and rock'n'roll performances, where regular Saturday afternoon jam sessions invite musicians to play together. The nightly performances shape how visitors experience and connect with the venue.

The venue occupies an upper floor reached by stairs in an old building, so visitors should be prepared for climbing and tight spaces. Arriving early gives you a better sense of the layout and layout before the evening performance begins.

The name comes from stamps that pawnshop customers once received to track payments on items left in storage. This link to the building's earlier purpose remains woven into the club's identity today.
