Ryningska palatset, Baroque palace in Stockholm, Sweden
The red facade of Ryningska palatset features an ornate stone portal and stands at 2 Stora Nygatan street in Stockholm's Old Town district.
Baron Erik Ryning constructed this palace between 1641 and 1644, using materials from the medieval city wall and the Gråmunketorn city gate.
The building transformed from a noble residence to a bourgeois house, reflecting social changes through different periods of Swedish society.
The palace maintains its original structure with residential buildings and low wings arranged around a central courtyard, now serving as government offices.
During the 18th century, the palace housed a wine cellar frequently visited by Carl Michael Bellman, alongside a cafe operated by secretary Gottfried Sack.
