Västmanlands-Dala Nation, Uppsala, Student nation at Uppsala University, Sweden
Västmanlands-Dala Nation is a student housing organization at Uppsala University with a distinctive building designed by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. It provides accommodation, libraries, dining areas, and event spaces for approximately 5200 members.
The organization was founded in 1639 and ranks among the oldest student societies at Uppsala University. It emerged from the union of students from the provinces of Västmanland and Dalarna.
The nation hosts one of Sweden's largest private libraries with extensive academic literature, serving as a study and work space for members. The location functions as a social hub for students from the two provinces that gave the organization its name.
Students can register on a waiting list for centrally located housing units managed by the organization. The facility is conveniently situated in the city center and provides a wide range of spaces for daily activities and study.
The rooftop restaurant transforms into Taket during summer months, a popular gathering spot with panoramic views across the city. The venue serves food and drinks in a relaxed setting overlooking the Uppsala landscape.
