Arken, Office building in Tomteboda, Sweden
Arken is an office building in Solna featuring a transparent ground floor and workspaces arranged in parallel sections. A central atrium with connecting bridges links the different areas together.
The architecture firm BSK Arkitekter won the design competition in 2000 and completed the structure in 2003. It opened officially in February 2004.
The building became a landmark of Tomteboda as the main seat of PostNord for many years. It shows how an office structure can define the character of a neighborhood through its distinctive appearance.
The structure sits between the Tomteboda Mail Terminal and adapts to the natural slope of the hill through its design. Access and movement are shaped by this topographic setting.
The atrium contains specially designed meeting spaces called cocoons that connect different sections through stairs and footbridges. These rooms function as gathering points throughout the interior.
