Bältespännarparken, Public park in central Gothenburg, Sweden
Bältespännarparken is a public park in central Gothenburg located opposite Stora Teatern, featuring a central fountain and various sculptures throughout the space. The green area offers recently renovated pedestrian paths, bicycle routes, and numerous benches for visitors.
The park received its name in 2003 based on Johan Peter Molin's sculpture Bältespännarna, which was first installed in the area in 1863. The artwork shaped the place's character for generations.
The park sits along Kungsportsavenyen and serves as a gathering place where visitors and residents meet for events and social activities throughout the year. You'll find people coming together here during local celebrations and community programs.
The park is easily accessible from surrounding city attractions and offers barrier-free paths for pedestrians and cyclists. Well-designed areas make it simple to move around and explore different parts of the space.
During winter the circular pond transforms into an ice skating rink for visitors, while during warmer months it functions again as a decorative water fountain. This seasonal change keeps the park a popular gathering spot year-round.
